Lionel graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Science and Master’s of Physiotherapy. He has worked in a range of settings including private practice, in-patient rehab, paediatric outpatient, community, and acute hospital settings. Lionel combines his time at SMP with neurological and acute caseloads, currently working in an acute role at Mulgrave Private Hospital. He is experienced in bike fitting, lower limb injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, stroke/brain injury, progressive neurological disorders, and functional reports.
He enjoys working with a diverse caseload of athletes of all levels, adolescents, and various neurological presentations. Beyond clinical experience, he has competed as an elite athlete at an international level as a national representative inline speed skater at 3 world championships prior to transitioning to road cycling with some of the biggest continental-level teams in Australia and the US.
Outside of the clinical setting, you will probably find him on a bike or at a café drinking coffee.

Andrew Kantor

Andrew completed his Physiotherapy degree in 1999 at LaTrobe Uni. In his early career he held positions at Royal Melbourne, Royal Darwin and Royal London Hospitals developing a broad knowledge base and appreciation of collaborative teamwork. Outside the hospital setting Andrew maintained a passion for musculo-skeletal physiotherapy and sports medicine which lead him to South Melbourne Physio.

Rakesh has furthered his studies in Australia and China, takes a holistic approach in the treatment and management of his clients.
